Alexander Palm Wyatt, 34, died on June 22, 2023, at his residence in Hollywood, California, where he was an active music blogger pursuing a career as a metal rock drummer.
He was born November 6, 1988, in Tacoma, Washington, and after spending his first years in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, his family moved to Salina, Kansas, in 1999, where he graduated from Central High School in 2007 and then from Kansas Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Theatre in 2012. During his High School and College days, he enjoyed many aspects of performing, playing trumpet in the Orchestra and Band, singing in the Choir and choral groups and acting in plays and musicals. Following graduation from KWU, he attended the Summer Arts Program in Monterey, California, and as a result, he decided to move to Hollywood and pursue a career in music performance.
Starting at an early age Alex developed a deep love of music. In grade school, he could identify almost any classical composer just by hearing a few seconds of a song. Over the years his tastes evolved and through the influence of his sister he learned about, and fell in love with, heavy metal. This love of music influenced trips all over the United States with his Father to attend countless rock concerts. Most recently, Alex and his Father attended the Motley Crue, Poison and Def Leppard Concert in August of 2022 at the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
He loved family vacations traveling around the United States and abroad, especially to the family cottage in Canada. Those vacations generated lots of family lore about the ability of Alex and his sister to simulate a tornado passing through any room they shared. Alex enjoyed staying current on local and world events. He and his Mother spent many hours going over world affairs and academic subjects, especially math at which he became quite proficient. Finally, he loved to cook, especially on the outdoor grill at his residence overlooking Sunset and Vine in Hollywood while entertaining his friends.
Alex is survived by his parents, Margaret and Bruce Wyatt of Salina; his sister, Jessica and niece Mary Margaret of Baltimore, Maryland; as well as by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private family graveside service and burial will be at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Alex was very interested in the environment and farming. Memorial donations may be made to the Land Institute in Salina, Kansas, care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, KS 67401.
By 1985 Ratt were one of the biggest bands in the world. And were without question the biggest band from the Sunset Strip scene. Despite having a slow commercial start. Motley Crue hadn’t become the mainstream juggxrnaught they would become. Quiet Riot had a meteoric fall as quick as their rise. And Bon Jovi were just around the corner. So that left Ratt to take the mantle. And their second album ‘Invasion of Your Privacy’ was just what the doctor ordered.
