In Defense of KISS ‘Music From The Elder’

It’s not only the most polarizing album in KISS’ entire catalog, it’s one of the most polarizing rock albums of all time. By December 1979, original drummer Peter Criss was out the door. Anton Fig, Ace’s solo album drummer, filled in for the bands ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Unmasked’ albums. Still to this day, KISS’ most underrated albums. However, Fig was only a studio drummer and Criss was replaced officially by Eric Carr. Who would go on to become one of the greatest hard rock drummers of all time. And the first studio album he officially played on was 1981’s ‘Music From The Elder.’

Ozzy Osbourne Releases New Single ‘Under The Graveyard’

The Prince of Darkness is back. And honestly, he sounds pretty damn good. We’ll get to that later, but for now I just want to focus on the fact that Ozzy has a new single out that measures up to the excellence of his past work.

Rage Against The Machine to Return in 2020

It’s the reunion that rock and metal world needs. With our planet in chaos and domestic issues getting seemingly worse by the minute, Rage Against the Machine are the perfect band for our modern times. With one political isle being fairly ineffective and the other fueled by religious zealousness and hate. Those are among two of the many political subjects that RATM covers. Along with their perfect music.

Hard Rock Anniversary – 11/01/79 – Aerosmith’s ‘Night In the Ruts’

It’s, along with 1982’s ‘Rock In A Hard Place,’ the most overlooked Aerosmith album in their entire catalog. By 1979 the band was burned out. Joe Perry was on his way out, but still active. Soon to be followed by Brad Whitford. The drugs were taking their toll as the band were off the rails and out of control. The formula that had worked so well three short years earlier was beginning to fail. Yet, despite all the hardships, Aerosmith managed to still release a pretty damn good album. 1979’s ‘Night In The Ruts.’

It’s no secret that Halloween and Heavy Metal go hand in hand. After all, October is ‘metal month.’ Or, at least it was when VH1 actually gave a crap about music. Stone Temple Pilots – ‘Purple’ 25th Anniversary Review

It finally happened. STP’s sophomore masterpiece has finally gotten the remaster it deserves. Initially it was the bands lowest bit recording in their catalog. Which made the mix sound a little out of place on a playlist. But finally, the 24 bit remaster makes the album pop out of the speakers like it really should. Not only that, but the remaster comes with plenty of tasty extras. Including a full length concert from New Haven, CT on the massive ‘Purple’ tour. STP did it right.

Rock Hall of Fame Still Doesn’t Understand Title, But Is Making Progress

Well, it’s that time again. When the ‘Rock N Roll Hall of Fame’ names all the acts that are on the nomination board. And honestly, this year it’s overall a pretty solid bunch of groups: Soundgarden and Judas Priest both seem to have a decent shot. And Motley Crue is leading the fan nominations; whomever wins that gets a spot. Soudgarden obviously should be in and Judas Priest has been nominated and snubbed for the past few years. It also looks like Motorhead and Pat Benatar will get in. All of those acts are more than deserving of being in the Hall of Fame.
