There’s a weird element to remastered albums. A lot of times it’s an unnecessary ploy to get fans to re-purchase a record they own. But sometimes it’s also a very necessary ploy in order for a bands records to sound as close to a specific vision and direction as possible. Matt Cameron Soundgarden/Pearl Jam Drummer to Release New Solo Album ‘Cavedweller’.
Today Matt Cameron, the drummer for Soundgarden/Pearl Jam, has teased a short video for his new up coming solo album entitled ‘Cavedweller’. It’s no secret that Soundgarden has had a rough year, losing their front man Chris Cornell in the spring. So this kind of comes as a surprise. What’s even more surprising is how good the music in the teaser video is. Continue reading Matt Cameron Soundgarden/Pearl Jam Drummer to Release New Solo Album ‘Cavedweller’.
Mr. Big – ‘Defying Gravity’ Album Review
The year started out slow. But once June hit it seems like every band and their dog is now releasing new material (not that I’m complaining). I just wasn’t expecting it. The other matter I wasn’t expecting was a new Mr. Big album. Continue reading Mr. Big – ‘Defying Gravity’ Album Review
Scorpions!! CHANGE YOUR CONCERT SET!!
So I saw the Scorpions about two years ago at the L.A. Forum. It was the bands 50’th anniversary tour! 50! I figured I had to go. It was a great show and the band sounded tight. Sure, there was a little down tuning because Klaus Meine is in his late 60’s. But they were only down a step and the songs retained their urgency and excitement. Continue reading Scorpions!! Guns N Roses – Proving Rock Isn’t Dead Reeling in 151 Million in 2017
In fact, it’s over that number but I rounded down. It’s astonishing to see the response to Guns N Roses’ ‘Not In This Lifetime’ tour. I don’t think anyone expected this amount of success. Sure, we all knew it was going to be big seeing Duff, Slash and Axl back on stage together, but not this big. Continue reading Guns N Roses – Proving Rock Isn’t Dead Reeling in 151 Million in 2017
Song’s for Freedom on This Fourth of July!
It’s Independence Day! And there’s no other form of music that shouts independence like hard rock and heavy metal. What’s so cool is that the genre covers everything from basic patriotic ‘All-American’ themes to protesting against the system and calling out it’s hypocrisy. Continue reading Song’s for Freedom on This Fourth of July!
Metal Genres – British New Wave of Heavy Metal
When the Led Zeppelins and Black Sabbaths of the world were nearing a decade of writing, recording and touring they obviously got tired and bored. I mean, how can you not get bored playing Iron Man night after night for the better part of a decade? Continue reading Metal Genres – British New Wave of Heavy Metal
Prong – Spoiling the Hell out of Us with Output
There’s a big trend going on right now with bands that hail from the 70’s through 90’s bands. They’re all touring on their classic hits and not releasing any new material. Poison anyone? And while touring is better than nothing, it’s still not as good as a band that still releases new material. Continue reading Prong – Spoiling the Hell out of Us with Output
‘Say Hello To Heaven’ Chris Cornell
What an incredibly sad week. At 2 in the morning on May 18 news broke out that Chris Cornell at the age of 52 had passed away. I literally stared at the wall for 30 minutes numb and shocked. Continue reading ‘Say Hello To Heaven’ Chris Cornell
