The kings of Boston 80’s hard rock are back with their first new material in fifteen years. The announcement of the new album ‘Six.’ Along with the release of the first single ‘Rise.’ Has gotten every hard rocker and guitar player on edge with anticipation of an excellent release.
The new single is simply one of the best that Extreme have had to offer. Their career has spanned decades. Yet, they’ve never really received the true success that they truly deserve. They’re a bonafide powerhouse. And ‘Rise’ is a prime example of what Extreme are capable of. The vocal melody and main riff is killer. K. Fig’s drums drive the track with heavy precision. Pat Badger’s bass shines through the mix. While his background vocal talent anchors the melodic tendencies of the band. Gary Cherone proves through and through that he is without question one of the top frontmen of all time. While many of his peers have fallen by the wayside. He continues to grow vocally and visually.
However, the centerpiece of the song is Nuno Bettencourt’s guitar solo. Clocking in at just under a minute. There’s no doubt that it’s one of his best. An absolute monster of a solo. Showing the younger generation how it’s truly done. And proving that he truly has a seat at the round table. A ‘Council of Nine’ player to the max. Which is the weapon that carries Extreme’s continuous success. ‘Rise’ shows the doubters that Extreme are here to stay. And ready to play. Crank it, live it and love it. Blast the new single ‘Rise.’
