Ghost Knock It Out Of The Park With Cover Of Genesis’ ‘Jesus He Loves Me’

Ghost have unveiled some new cover material. A short ep entitled ‘Phantomime.’ And the lead single, ‘Jesus He Knows Me,’ has proven to be an immediate hit. Making waves through the rock and general music world immediately upon release.

It’s clear that the theme of the new EP is metallisizing songs that may not be considered heavy music. But have an edge that the heavy world can vibe on and appreciate. And Ghost are the band that can bring that theme out. The first single ‘Jesus He Knows Me’ has made an immediate impression. It’s a perfect cover to be honest. Capturing the original, satirical subject matter. While also making it kick ass.

Releasing the song on Easter is also a bold move. The song being a perfect, satirical calling out of the hypocrisy of corrupt televangelists. It’s not a knock on Christianity. Just those who take advantage of the religion for their own personal gain. Cough, cough…Joel Osteen. A theme that’s been ever present throughout the history of hard rock and metal.

Ghost capture the energy and mood of the original. But beef it up with their signature guitar tones. Tobias Forge remains himself. But acquires the snarky, satirical tone that Phil Collins displays. Not much of a guitar solo. But by ’91, Genesis weren’t really a guitar solo band. However, Ghost nail the keyboard melodies and bridge. And finish the song out in blistering fashion. Looking forward to the release. This one, you gotta hear.
