King’s X, the most underrated band of all time have finally accomplished the inevitable. They finally debuted in the top ten on the Billboard 100. An accomplishment 30 plus years in the making.
The charting is a long time coming. As all rock fans know, King’s X is ‘the most underrated band of all time.’ And for good reason. Their harmonies, melodies and heavy groove tropes are unmatched. There’s something special about the three members coming together. Combining all their various influences. Such as everything from Yes, Rush and Saga. To The Beatles. To Black Sabbath and Pantera. It’s all there in a linear, cohesive sound that’s been overlooked for decades.
The combination of Dug Pinnick, Ty Tabor and Jerry Gaskill’s vocals are more prominent than ever. Creating their signature harmonies ten fold. And it’s about time that King’s X gets theirs. The feel and metal vibe also shares the melodic side of the band. Creating an original, perfect balance that’s been unrecognized since the bands inception.
Tracks like ‘Watcher,’ ‘All God’s Children,’ ‘Flood Pt.1’ and ‘Swipe Up’ initiate a new era for King’s X. One that’s hopefully fruitful and commercially successful. Because if there’s any band that deserves to be the biggest in the world, it’s King’s X. The Texas trio has been a staple for those in the hard rock community. But for the mainstream audience their music has mostly been unknown. Here’s to hoping that success and a late career renascence are inevitable.
