Original Korn bassist Fieldy has announced he will not be partaking in the upcoming Korn tour set to start this summer. Due to personal reasons and an apparent relapse of ‘bad habits.’
Fieldy is, of course, the original bassiest and co-founder of the band. In the entirety of Korn’s 28 year career, he’s never taken a big break. There’s been a few very short stints between here and there. But lately Fieldy’s habits have caused strain in his personal and professional relationships.
‘To all Korn fans worldwide. The past six years I’ve been dealing with some personal issues that at times have cause me to fall back on some of bad habits and has caused some tension with the people around me. Its been suggested to me to take some time off to heal. I’m going to respect what was asked of me and take that time. Unfortunately you will not see me on stage with my band. I will be work towards getting the bad habits out of my system. In the meantime I will be staying creative to keep my mind and soul in a good place. I’m thankful for all your support, patience and understanding as we all have something that we deal with. Jonathan, Munk, Ray and Head, I love you and I don’t want to bring any tension or bad vibes to the circle.’ – Fieldy
A very mature and professional decision. A well written statement. Korn have shown their support and are behind their bassist 100%. Korn are one of the few bands of the last 30 years that have remained largely intact. Yes, Ray Luzier has replaced original drummer David Silveria. And Brian ‘Head’ Welch was out of the band for a bit. But he’s been back for quite some time now and it’s been four out of five original members, plus a totally badass and underrated drummer. That’s pretty excellent consistency. So you know Korn will hold up their end of the bargain for the upcoming tour. Plus, having Stained on the road is a boon to any group. No official fill ins have been announced. But speculation leads towards Ryan Martinine or Tye Trujillo who have both filled in for Feildy at times.
