Well, they’ve initiated the loophole that’s allowing them to tour again. The dates haven’t been set, but the tour has been announced. Motley Crue will be reuniting for a massive stadium tour that includes contemporaries Poison and Def Leppard.
I don’t believe that a line up for the gigantic tour has been announced either. If I had to guess I would say it’s going to be: Poison, Motley Crue and then Def Leppard. Commercially that makes the most the sense. Although it is entirely possible that Motley Crue will be the big headliner. After all, the tour is kind of about them. As we all know they signed contract forbidding the band from touring. Their final show was supposedly Dec 31, 2015. But now they’re back among the echelons of Ozzy Osbourne and KISS. Not that they should be compared to those situations. I honestly think that Motley Crue meant to stop touring. I think this tour is driven by them wanting to truly play together. As in they really missed it. They might be doing it for the money, but why would they need it? Also, the success of ‘The Dirt’ on Netflix gave the band a huge boon. And the fans really started to Pavlov when the Crue recorded new material for the movies soundtrack. By the way, the new material is good.
And since the movie was released, which also has a 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, there’s been a massive influx of new fans for Motley Crue. So they gotta ride the wave. Not only that, but the recording of the new material was unexpectedly fun for the members. So, they blew up their cessation of touring contract and released the following statement: “Almost six years after signing a ‘Cessation of Touring’ agreement, the contract is off the table because a whole new generation of Crueheads are relentlessly demanding for the band to come back together. Following the huge success of their Netflix biopic ‘The Dirt,’ Motley Crue has seen a massive surge in new audience. And the band best known for breaking the rules has destroyed their cessation of touring contract in true Motley Crue fashion, by literally blowing it up. After 35 years together on stage, and 30 years since the release of ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ the members of Motley Crue parted ways without speaking to each other after their final show on Dec 31st, 2015. Vince, Nikki, Mick and Tommy didn’t come together again until 2018 to participate in the making of ‘The Dirt’ movie, which unexpectedly brought them closer together again including them heading back into the recording studio after having gone their own directions for several years. The fuse was lit. ‘Since playing Tommy Lee in ‘The Dirt,’ so many of my fans have said how they wish they could’ve seen the real Motley Crue live,’ said Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelley) ‘I never thought I would see the day when this would become a reality. But the fans spoke and Motley Crue listened!’ ‘The Dirt’ currently enjoys a 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. And it’s massive global success this year saw Motley Crue’s popularity rush to new heights, catapulting the bands music back to the top of the world wide charts with the younger 18-44 demographic now representing 64% of the bands fan base. Moreover, in the six months following the release of ‘The Dirt,’ Motley Crue has celebrated a meteoric rise of almost 350% in streams of their music across all streaming platforms. However, most of the new fans have never seen any of the legendary live shows that Crueheads have relished for almost four decades. Well there it is folks, an appropriately lengthy statement from the worlds most dangerous rock band. The stage is set for a whole new generation to discover how bad ass 80’s hard rock really is. And hopefully along the way, this new generation will appreciate the actual discipline involved in playing proficient, live instruments. Take out your notepads kids, the big boys are about to show you how it’s really done.
