It’s been a really tense past few days in Washington. It has been complete disfunction junction over there and the past few days it’s been on full display. The hearings were a mess, despite what anyones political beliefs are. And whether or not you’re a Democrat, Independent or Republican, the situation is fairly dire. If there was ever a period show that did it right, it’s ‘That 70’s Show.’ Pretty much everything about the half hour comedy is accurate to the tee. The Jimmy Carter era sitcom captures the mood of a post WW2 and Korea War golden age of American success. Hard Rock ‘N Roll was prevalent. With bands like KISS and Aerosmith dominating the counter culture scene. Those two acts, along with many others, makes ‘That 70’s Show’ one of the great Rock ‘n Roll shows.

In Defense of KISS ‘Music From The Elder’

It’s not only the most polarizing album in KISS’ entire catalog, it’s one of the most polarizing rock albums of all time. By December 1979, original drummer Peter Criss was out the door. Anton Fig, Ace’s solo album drummer, filled in for the bands ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Unmasked’ albums. Still to this day, KISS’ most underrated albums. However, Fig was only a studio drummer and Criss was replaced officially by Eric Carr. Who would go on to become one of the greatest hard rock drummers of all time. And the first studio album he officially played on was 1981’s ‘Music From The Elder.’

Hard Rock Anniversary – 11/01/79 – Aerosmith’s ‘Night In the Ruts’

It’s, along with 1982’s ‘Rock In A Hard Place,’ the most overlooked Aerosmith album in their entire catalog. By 1979 the band was burned out. Joe Perry was on his way out, but still active. Soon to be followed by Brad Whitford. The drugs were taking their toll as the band were off the rails and out of control. The formula that had worked so well three short years earlier was beginning to fail. Yet, despite all the hardships, Aerosmith managed to still release a pretty damn good album. 1979’s ‘Night In The Ruts.’
