While Def Leppard and Motley Crue were the main headlining acts during the ‘Stadium Tour’ at SoFi Stadium. It’s opening act Poison that set the tone for the evening. Playing the hits, the veteran rockers gathered the masses with their passion.
Bret, Rikki, Bobby and C.C. gave it their all. Setting a standard of excellence for the evening. The band’s fifty minute set ran through all the signature tracks that made the band a commercial success in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Opening with the classic ‘Look What The Cat Dragged In,’ Poison took the stage around 6:10. They immediately moved into ‘Ride the Wind.’ A crowd favorite from the ‘Flesh and Blood’ album. The ‘Your Mama Don’t Dance’ cover followed. Accompanied by an abridged C.C. guitar solo. As the band was an opening act.
The top 20 hit ‘Fallen Angel’ hit the crowd after the solo. As the number one hit ‘Unskinny Bop’ got the entire stadium on its feet. A short Rikki Rockett drum solo kept the energy up before a one two closing punch of ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ and ‘Nothin’ But a Good Time.’
A short but sweet set. Brett Michaels’ gratitude shined throughout. In fact, I think he thanked the audience more than the band actually played. Either way, their energy set the standard for the rest of the evening. The only real criticism comes from the sound engineer. Who failed to capture the accurate playing of the band. Other than that, Poison played their asses off. Set the standard for the evening. And held their own in a competitive evening of rock.
