The Numero Group, a nostalgic record company, are set to release a new collection of Sunset Strip bands from the 80’s. The record label, known for remastering collections of various historical music genres, are turning their heads towards an ofter forgotten or marginalized decade of music.
Featuring Sunset Strip veterans such as Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden and Steeler. The two disc set also covers the lesser known gamut of 80’s LA rock. Such as Leather Angel, Bitch, Witch and Tommy Thayer’s original band Black ‘N Blue. There’s so much great music from the era. And it often gets overlooked. And when it does get recognition, it’s often in a mocking tone or condescending nature.
But with this set it’s ride or die. A celebration of everything that made the Sunset Strip one of the most celebrated and well known eras of music. The songs are met with honor and appreciation. And the lead single off the collection, Max Havoc’s ‘Bound For Hell,’ the title of the set, kicks some serious ass.
An era of music that often gets slammed on, 80’s hard rock displayed the peak of commercial musicianship. Thrash and prog metal as well. But 80’s hard rock had the commercial appeal. Was it the peak of thought provoking lyrics? No, but that’s not really the point of the genre. It’s kick ass rock ‘n roll and nothing more. And it doesn’t have to be. It’s music first. And these bands were the absolute cream of the crop.
