The Constant Practice of Ticket Price Hiking

This is getting way way out of control. Band’s that are advertising tickets at a certain price through a broker, such as ticketmaster or livenation. And then when you get to the link to get your ticket the price is hiked up anywhere from 50 to 300 plus dollars.

The latest instance of this, at least in my life, is the Guns N Roses show taking place at the Palladium on Saturday Sept, 21st. All week they promoted the show, it was clearly a last minute addition. Tickets didn’t even go on sale until 9 am Pacific time the day before. And the Palladium is literally less than a block away from where I live. So all week I’m thinking, ‘I gotta fuckin go to this!’ The time comes to purchase the tickets at 9 am. I get online, go their Facebook pace and click on the link. Of course, there’s quite a q of two thousand plus people getting tickets, naturally. But it moved pretty quickly, after about 20 min it’s my turn. A picture of the Palladium pops up. And it’s a big ballroom with a capacity of about 4,000. So there’s only one place to get tickets, on the floor, standing room only.

Click on the floor icon and the ticket price comes up. FUCKING 490$!! What the fuck!!?? The link said 175$. And of course, you expect to pay about 25$ in fees which is fine. But I don’t care how good a band is, 490$ for a ticket price is outrageous. The most tickets should ever be for good seats, sans special packages, is 250$. Okay, if you’re The Rolling Stones or something, you can charge a little more to be right up on the stage. But it ends there. And the prices should be promoted as what they fucking are!! That’s what really pisses me off. It’s the anticipation of getting a ticket that’s advertised at a certain price. Getting ready to go to a show, only to have it blow up in your face. And the other thing is that GNR could really do something about it if they wanted. There’s many bands that are very aggressive about second and third string ticket sales that are overpriced. Pearl Jam won’t even do business with ticketmaster. Fortunately I saw them at Dodger Stadium in 2016. And I have a feeling GNR have been playing the same set for the past three years. Like I always say, get back in the studio!
