It looks like 2020 is going to be a big year of big tours. And Megadeth clearly want a part of it. The band has recently announced a major tour with Lamb of God, Trivium and In Flames. Which is sure to get the big crowds in the arenas. Just Megadeth with Lamb of God alone is enough to bring in the metal masses. But with Trivium and In Flames added, it’s guaranteed massive. Similar to the Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison stadium tour gearing up to go. But ya know, a bit heavier.
It’s great to see Megadeth back in the saddle again. The band was on hiatus after Dave Mustaine was diagnosed with throat cancer. He’s now cancer free after kicking it’s ass in true Megadeth fashion. So the tour is really a comeback of sorts for the group. It’s also nice to see Megadeth headlining a big tour. The past few years they’ve been opening acts for some of their influences such as The Scorpions. And granted, they did get a little over an hour of stage time. Which is a lot for an opening act. But I always thought of Megadeth as a headlining act due to their success. Well, now it’s finally happening again.
The tour kicks off on June 12th in Bristow, VA and ends at Reno, NV on November 13th. With the month of August off. That’s a major major tour. Megadeth haven’t gone out on headlining dates like this in years. Like, a decade. And with all the added talent, it’s sure to be the metal tour of the year. Which is extremely needed right now. The band is currently on tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Bad Wolves.
Also on the schedule is a new Megadeth record. Which will hopefully live up to the last few. Lamb of God are also gearing up for a self titled release. It’s gonna a big year for hard rock and metal. And the material and subsequent massive tours that are sure to pop up this year are sure to be worth it. Time for Megadeth to take back the reigns of the thrash metal ship. Tickets have gone on sale as of last Friday. So hurry and grab them while they last.
